To offer experienced leadership, we are thrilled to announce our nominee for
Board of Finance
Fred Chmura
“Our task is to balance finding new revenue, re-funding diminished services and reducing taxes.”
I am seeking re-election to my third term on the Board of Finance. My background encompasses 28 years in state government in the areas of municipal taxation and finance including Director of Assessments and Grants in the Office of Policy and Management. After leaving the state I was a partner in TEAM Consulting LCC a firm specializing in assisting local, county and state governments in the areas of education, real estate appraisal and professional in government finance and tax policy. I have lived in Woodstock since 1979 and have been active in local civic organizations.
Since the recent repeal of Proposition 46 Woodstock faces new challenges. There are many areas of services that have been unfunded for many years due to restriction on the budget, including elementary and middle school education. The elected Boards in Woodstock need to face these funding challenges in order to best serve the people of Woodstock and its children’s education while be mindful of not placing a financial burden on the residents of Woodstock. Additional revenue sources must be identified so tax rates are not increased or keep to reasonable affordable increases.
