To offer experienced leadership, we are thrilled to announce our nominee for
Planning and Zoning Commission - Alternate
John A. Day Jr.
“The effects on public health must have the highest consideration in planning and zoning work.”
I am running for a spot on the Woodstock Planning and Zoning Commission because I have seen how important it is to Woodstock and how it serves a unique function in determining the future of our town. In Woodstock, striking the perfect balance between encouraging economic growth and preserving the things that make our town special is the task at hand. Particularly important to me are issues which touch on my experience as a physician — making sure our water is safe, that we have adequate recreational opportunities, and that development—industrial or otherwise—safeguards the health of our residents. Now that I am retired, I feel that I am able to devote the requisite time towards learning to be a knowledgeable and effective Commission member. I am running as an Alternate specifically because I have limited experience with the issues for which the Commission is responsible and I look at the position as a way to bring myself up to speed with the regular members of the Commission.
